I guess the best way to say is just to say it… the SHE Power Indianapolis Half Marathon and 5K is being postponed to June 19, 2022. With the continued rise in COVID-19 cases impacting large events and travel, it has become apparent that we will not be able to produce this race as it was intended in May. While we've been able to host several smaller events that incorporate wave starts to spread out participants, the SHE Power race is too large and impacts too many roadways to modify this way. And with travel restrictions continuing, planning remains very difficult for the large number of participants that join us each year from nearly 40 states and 3 countries. While we host a number of virtual races, we know participating in a virtual event isn’t the same as running in a live event with hundreds of other women. So we have made it a priority to make sure the SHE Power race happens in person as an empowering event where we can all come together on race day to cheer you on and hand each of you the beautiful SHE Power finisher medal when you cross the finish line. We have made the difficult decision to postpone this race until the regular June date in 2022. This is not ideal and certainly not what we expected would happen when the planning began for this race a year ago, but we are going to go with our own 2021 motto and “embrace the journey”. Hopefully this will allow the world to be a bit more at peace, everyone will be more comfortable in groups, and we can all come together and be grateful for each and every mile we did together. So what happens next?
